Who we are

Laurel Volunteer Examiners, Omaha (LVEO) is a small, volunteer-run group of licensed amateur radio operators who are accredited to administer FCC amateur radio license examinations. We're based in Omaha, Nebraska, and our goal is simple: make it easy for anyone in the area to get licensed, upgrade their license, or renew, with a friendly, low-pressure exam session run by fellow hams.

Every member of our Volunteer Examiner team is accredited through a Volunteer Examiner Coordinator (VEC) and volunteers their time so that our community has a reliable, local place to test — no long drives, no long waits.

What we do

• Administer Technician, General, and Amateur Extra class license exams
• Hold regularly scheduled exam sessions around the Omaha metro area
• Offer walk-in testing whenever possible — no appointment required in most cases
• Help first-time test takers understand what to bring and what to expect
• Support local hams renewing or upgrading an existing license

Getting your license

New to amateur radio? You don't need any prior experience or an existing license to sit for the entry-level Technician exam. Many candidates study using free practice exams and question pools available online, then attend one of our sessions when they feel ready.
